including all issues arising out of the international sale and carriage of goods by sea, bills of
lading, charterparties, international payment mechanisms (including letters of credit), trade
finance, export control, sanctions, and energy trading.
We have a wealth of experience in both London and international arbitration. Our specialist Team
focuses on all types of arbitration references, including those governed by the rules of the LMAA,
FOSFA, GAFTA, HKIAC, LOF, LCIA, ICC, LME, RSA, SAOL, SIAC, CEPAMI, CIETAC, ICSID, CMAP, ICE, BIR
and DIS. In addition, Team members regularly manage cases in the Moscow Arbitration Court, as well
as the International Commercial Arbitration Courts of Chambers of Commerce of the Ukraine, Russian
Federation, and other CIS countries.
The Team specialises in the management of litigation internationally, as well as in the
enforcement of judgements and arbitration awards in the UK as well as in overseas jurisdictions. We
also conduct and manage negotiations, pre-trial settlements, ad hoc arbitration, mediation,
early neutral evaluation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

the Middle East.
- Advising a major petrochemical company on various contractual disputes in the oil
sector.
- Representing Swiss metal traders following claims made against them under the contract of
carriage following the total loss of a vessel: Primetrade AG v Ythan Ltd [2006] 1 All ER
367.
- Acting for aluminium traders in a well publicised claim for over USD500 million.
- Advising oilseed traders on contractual claims in relation to allegedly high levels of
pesticide.
- Representing a major steel trading company in relation to several LCIA arbitrations against
Italian buyers.
- Acting for Swiss grain traders in Gafta arbitration claims commenced against them arising out
of allegedly excessive mycotoxin levels in Ukrainian corn - both at first instance and on
appeal.
- Advising an LNG shipping company on time charters, including off-hire clauses, and on
shipping/trading issues.
- Representing oil traders in an LCIA arbitration in respect of claims arising out of the
disposal and acquisition of crude oil stocks.
- Advising on wholesale gas, power and emissions trading arrangements.
- Advising an Indian steel mill on quality/quantity disputes following the sale of hot rolled
steel coils - multiple arbitrations in Hong Kong and London.
- Acting for a Ukrainian steel distributor in respect of a multi-mullion US Dollar claim
following the supply of allegedly non-contractual steel.
- Advising in relation to an LME arbitration for a metals producer on a USD500,000 dispute with
its broking house.
- Acting for clients in relation to a dispute arising out of the delivery of cargoes of scrap
metal to

- Advising in relation to several RSA arbitration references relating to a series of contracts
made on Liffe for the delivery of refined sugar.
